Combine 1 tablespoon liquid dish detergent with 1/2 gallon of hot water. Use a detergent that contains a grease-cutting agent if the interior of the sink feels greasy.
Wipe out the interior of the sink with the detergent and a mildly abrasive sponge. Rinse with clear water.
Plug the sink drain. Fill the sink with a solution of one part white vinegar and three parts hot water. Soak the sink with the solution for 30 to 60 minutes to loosen scale buildup, stains and soap residue.
Drain the vinegar water from the sink. Scrub a second time with the detergent solution and vinegar water to remove any remaining grime on the sink. Rinse with clear water.
Wipe the sink out with a clean towel after washing. Drying the sink makes it sparkling white and prevents limescale and water spots that can dull the white ceramic surface.
